Course Description

Stroll the Arboretum's stunning perennial beds where you’ll learn about plant placement, dividing, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, mulching and more. Knowing what to do and when to do it will help keep your perennial gardens looking good from spring through fall. See how things change each month and season--no walk is the same!

Instructor

Michael Butler, horticulturist, The Morton Arboretum

Michael Butler graduated from Illinois State University in 2015. He has been working at the Arboretum since 2015, but working as a landscaper for 12 years. Previously to the Arboretum, Michael worked at the Normal, IL park district with the Horticulture crew for 2 and a half years as part-time/seasonal aid. Currently, Michael is the Horticulturalist assigned to the Ground Cover Garden and May T. Watts Reading garden.
