Course Description

Spring bird migration begins earlier than most people realize. Many species are already on the move in February. Waterfowl are the first to make major migration moves. As soon as the ice begins to leave our lakes and ponds waterfowl start pushing north.

This is also a good time to search our local open lands for some overwintering species before they leave to find breeding territories further north. It’s a chance to see some of our less common owls species, hawks, longspurs and Snow Buntings.

Most of each class session will be spent in the field and if conditions dictate, we will bird from the comfort of vehicles as much as possible.
