Course Description

Learn the human history of the local land before European settlement on this guided hike.

Learn about the native peoples’ culture and way of life. Examine their resources and ingenuity in developing a way of life that allowed them to subsist off the land while also honoring it. Identify the plants and animals that they relied on, and listen to traditional oral stories that explained the world around them.

Jeanette Joy, naturalist

Jeanette Joy is a Certified Naturalist and Field Studies instructor. She grew up loving nature and now loves to share it with others. She enjoys doing programs for all ages, from the very young to the young at heart. She likes to explore new places and also finds joy in the discoveries that can be found in our own backyard.

Notes: Held outdoors. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Be prepared to walk more than a mile on uneven terrain. Limit 18
