Course Description

Illinois is nicknamed "The Prairie State." Yet, what is a tallgrass prairie, and why does prairie matter? Join Cindy Crosby, author of the forthcoming Introduction to the Tallgrass Prairie (Northwestern University Press, 2017)  for lively discussion, beautiful prairie images, and readings of prairie prose and poetry from the eighteenth century to contemporary writers. Bring a friend! You'll find this a thoughtful introduction or enjoyable reacquaintance with the landscape we in Illinois call home.
