Course Description

A black and white photo of one tree and the surrounding landscape.Step up your nature photography with tips and techniques from well-known photographer Tony Sweet. This information-packed full-day nature photography seminar will cover composition to creative effects and everything in between. Grab a complimentary coffee and settle in for compelling topics that will grow your skills as a nature photographer:

Compelling Composition
Line, shape, form and flow are only a few of the components which work together to create compelling composition. In this presentation, many compositional techniques (traditional and creative) are illustrated and discussed, the point being to help you to think in terms of distilling the subject down to its essence.

Flower Photography
Flowers have always been a favorite subject with photographers, painters and visual artists. Soft lines, curves, color and translucency lend flowers to infinite interpretations. Along with many image illustrations, equipment, lenses and set ups are illustrated.

Panoramic Photography
The world of panoramic photography is at your fingertips. First, it is possible to create great panos hand held, with no tripod. Photoshop’s Photomerge can create the composite and you’re good to go. However, for more advanced panoramic photography, hardware is needed and will be addressed, as well as nodal points, amount of overlap needed at different focal lengths, metering and multi-layered stitched pans.

Plug-ins Unplugged!
In this segment, the creative use of the top plugins will be illustrated (Nik, Topaz, Perfectly Clear, AlienSkin, Jixipix, and OnOne), including a series of “befores” and “afters” demonstrating the wide range of creative interpretations available.

Adding Emotion with Texture Blends
Texture blending is gaining in popularity and is a wonderful way make your work unique. We’ll explore various texture blending techniques and software options, as well what consider when applying textures to an image.

Special In-Camera Creative Effects
Although software is one of the great driving forces in modern digital photography, there are manly creative effects that can be accomplished in-camera, depending on the camera’s capabilities. Techniques such as HDR, multiple exposures, swipes, Infrared, light painting, and extreme long exposures will be illustrated.
