Every Tuesday, June through September 2018.

Teachers from preschool through college can visit The Morton Arboretum with free admission every Tuesday from June through September 2018. It’s an opportunity for teachers and teachers in training to enjoy all the natural beauty and summer events the Arboretum offers while discovering options for student field trips.  Learn more about Teacher Tuesdays

On arrival, the teacher must show a school ID or valid ISTA, NEA, or NSTA card and will receive a packet of information about the Arboretum’s education programs and opportunities. Free admission is valid only for the teacher, not for additional guests or children.

See the Science

July 24th 2018 

Stop and chat with arboretum educators and scientists about our school field trip programs, and resources for you to use in your classroom. Meet with Arboretum experts and learn about tree rings, while you discover ways to include them in your classroom instruction. Go on a scavenger hunt in the children's garden, and learn about the ways you can use the arboretum in your classroom next year. Pre-registration is not required, this is a drop in event.   • 9:00-11:00 - Macroinvertebrates- stop and sort- Sample this popular field trip activity and discover the biodiversity found within the aquatic ecosystem. 
  • 11:00-12:00- Tree Ring Talk with Dr. Christy Rollinson, Forest Ecologist - Learn about Tree Cores and find ways you can incorporate this content into your classroom instruction. 
  • 12:00-2:00 - Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Garden- Borrow one of the self guided backpacks that you could loan with your students for a field trip. Uncover the hidden nooks of the children's garden and complete a scavenger hunt for a prize.
