Spend time exploring our latest art exhibit, Nature Connects, and build your own art from natural materials at The Morton Arboretum.     What would it take to be a bird? Soar into the fascinating life of birds as you listen for bird calls, scout out nests, and make a bird feeder to attract your own backyard birds at The Morton Arboretum.   • Young Impressionists-1st-2nd grade

    Become a mini Monet! Explore the Arboretum for artistic inspiration and use impressionist techniques to create a masterpiece. Monday through Friday, June 17 through 21, or August 5 through 9, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to noon, or July 15 through 19, 2019, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Go Fish-1st-2nd grade

    Make your own fishing pole and let’s go fishing. Enjoy stories, games, and fishing trips to the Arboretum’s best spots at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 10 through 14, or July 29 through August 2, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to noon, or July 8 through 12, 2019, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Camping Out-1st-2nd grade

  • Chirp, Click, Buzz -1st-2nd grade

    Birds sing, crickets chirp, and frogs chorus out in the woods. Experiment with the science of sound and build your own nature-based instruments to play at The Morton Arboretum.   • Outdoor Adventures-3rd-4th grade

    Get outside and explore! Set off on a different adventure each day as you explore geocaching, letterboxing, survival skills, and more at The Morton Arboretum.   • Adventures in Art-3rd-4th grade

  • Adaptive Art-3rd-4th grade

    Do you think you can paint with a beak, sculpt with a paw, or draw with a claw? Find out how Arboretum animals are adapted to life in the woods, ponds, and prairies and embrace various artistic media to capture these unique animal features.   • Critter Cases 3-4g

    Can you solve the case of the missing acorn or the mystery of the toppled tree? Put your sleuthing skills to good use as you learn signs that animals leave behind and become a woodland detective at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 10 through 14, or August 5 through August 9, 2019, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., or June 24 through 28 or July 29 through August 2, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to noon
  • Forest Forts-3rd-4th grade

    Design and build forts inspired by trees. Study trees up close and uncover their unique characteristics. Build a mini tree fort village as a group. Each child takes home their own mini tree fort at The Morton Arboretum.     Stretch, squish, and squoosh some slime as you discover how plants and animals use slime, try out some recipes for slime, and put your slime to the test at ?The Morton Arboretum.     What can you accomplish when you take on an eco-challenge?     If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is a video worth? Capture the movements of nature from falling leaves to crawling caterpillars and make a moving story out of the natural world at The Morton Arboretum.   • Help Wanted-5th-8th grade

    What does it take to make an Arboretum run? Take a behind the scenes look at careers at the Arboretum and experience what it takes to become a Champion of Trees at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, July 8 through 12, or July 29 through August 2, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Nature Photography I-5th-8th grade

    Use your nature observation skills and get creative with digital photography. Practice composition, subject placement, close-ups, moving targets, and more at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, June 3 through 7, 2019, or July 15 through 19, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Nature Photography II-5th-8th grade

    Capture nature from a new angle! Take the time to play with mirrors, water, shadows, and light in this photography class at The Morton Arboretum. Participants must bring their own digital camera Monday through Friday, June 17 through 21, or August 5 through 9, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Animal Engineers-5th-8th grade

    From intricate birds nests to astounding beaver dams, animals are engineering all around us. Take a closer look at the construction techniques used in the animal kingdom and take on wild STEM building challenges at The Morton Arboretum. Monday through Friday, July 15 through 19, or August 12 through August 16, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Little Acorns (18-35 months)

    Young explorers will hike, play, listen to stories, and engage in science and art in these hands-on sensory-based programs at The Morton Arboretum. Select Weekdays starting June 4 through August 20, 2019, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
  • Little Sprouts (3-5 years)

    Young explorers will hike, play, listen to stories, and engage in science and art in these hands-on sensory-based programs. Select Weekdays starting June 6 through August 22, 2019, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Forest Explorers (18–35 months)

    Each day we will hike, read stories, and play in this 4–week sensory based outdoor adventure. Adults will also receive tips to continue exploration at home! Four Tuesdays, September 3 through 24, 2019, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
