The Morton Arboretum announced the reopening of its popular Children’s Garden and Ginkgo Restaurant, with adjusted hours and alignment with state safety protocols.
The Children’s Garden reopens on Aug. 17, with hours from noon to 4 p.m. every day, with last entry at 3:30 p.m. Entrance to the Garden is free with general admission timed-entry tickets or member passes to the Arboretum, which must be obtained online in advance of arrival. Masks are required for guests over the age of 2. Exhibits that do not allow for social distancing or do not meet current Restore Illinois reopening requirements have been removed.
“The Arboretum has added sanitation stations, adjusted entry and exit procedures, and limited capacity to provide ample space for children and families to be able to explore and enjoy the Children’s Garden safely,” said Preston Bautista, PhD, Vice President of Learning and Engagement. When the Garden is full, there may be a wait to enter until space is available.
The Ginkgo Restaurant will also reopen from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch only, Wednesdays through Sundays, beginning Aug. 21. Seating indoors and outdoors on the terrace will be available to a limited number of guests, who are required to wear masks when not seated at tables. Additional food and beverage options are available daily at the carry-out Ginkgo Café, and Saturdays and Sundays at Arbor Court outdoor concessions.
All guests, including members, must reserve advance, date-specific, timed-entry admission online to ensure moderated attendance levels. The Arboretum is providing exclusive access to members for the hours 7 to 9 a.m. daily. Guest access is from 9 a.m. to the last entry time (currently 5 p.m.).
