The next phase of The Morton Arboretum’s reopening plan begins June 15, when tickets will be available to the public and its Visitor Center opens with select operations, reduced hours and new state-mandated safety protocols in place. Masks will be required of all visitors while in indoor spaces.

The Arboretum Store and Ginkgo Café will reopen with reduced hours and adjusted operations. The store will serve ten shoppers at a time, and is offering online orders and videoconference one-on-one shopping experiences with the sales staff for curbside pick-up by calling 630-719-2454.

The café will offer carry-out food and beverage options. Outdoor concessions will be available Wednesday through Sunday, beginning June 19. With table seating unavailable due to state operational guidelines, visitors may picnic on the Arboretum grounds. The Ginkgo Restaurant will remain closed until further notice.

Visitor Services representatives will be available in the Visitor Center, which will have one-way entry and exit for a moderated number of visitors at one time. Indoor restrooms will also reopen in the Visitor Center and West Pavilion with heightened sanitization protocols in place. All other buildings, the Maze Garden and Children’s Garden will remain closed until further notice.

Timed-entry admission

All visitors, including members, must reserve advance, date-specific, timed-entry admission online to ensure moderated attendance levels. The Arboretum is providing exclusive access to members for the hours 7 to 9 a.m. daily. Visitor access is from 9 a.m. to close. For more information, visit the Know Before You Go visit information page.

Events and programming

The Arboretum’s in-person special events and educational programs originally scheduled for June have been canceled or transitioned to an online format. Events and programs for the rest of the summer season are being actively evaluated and considered following the state’s Restore Illinois reopening plan and its allowances for group gatherings. Rentals for small group events for 10 or less, such as weddings and birthdays, are now available by calling 630-725-2190, or completing an event inquiry form at mortonarb.org.
